We have begun a vegetable garden and use many books and videos to help us learn more about the best seeds/plants and when to plant in our area. We use a range of both free and paid resources which you will find listed below.

1. Craftsy

We use Craftsy for our gardening resources. They have 22 Online Gardening Classes in three skill levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced) covering subjects like garden design, weed & pest control, composting, working with seeds, organic gardening, harvesting and many more. The classes cover vegetables & herbs, roses & flowers, large trees and even bonsai.

2. KidsGrow

The Nursery & Garden Industry Australia website has a whole section – KidsGrow – on gardening for schools/kids. The information and downloads are free to print and use in your homeschool. The resources includes: Seasonal Colour Garden, Australian Habitat Haven, Munch & Crunch Garden, Waterwise Sensory Maze.

KidsGrow also includes sustainable gardening principles and a links to learning download so you can see how each gardening topic leads to different learning areas for you child – perfect for review time!
